Four of the major airlines operating at Faro Airport have announced new summer services linking the Algarve to the UK, Spain, Italy and France. In addition to catering for Portuguese travellers, the new routes offer increased opportunities for British tourists to enjoy multi-country holidays during their stay in Europe, using the Algarve as a convenient base.
New EasyJet routes are now on sale from Faro to Barcelona (for journeys from 26 June) and Toulouse (from 28 June). Faro’s summer schedule includes a total of 21 EasyJet routes, including the two new ones.
“We are delighted to offer this update to our summer 2023 schedule,” said José Lopes, EasyJet’s country manager for Portugal, “so customers have even more possibilities to book travel in advance. This year is expected to be very positive for EasyJet. We are making a big investment in Portugal… Our customers consider us the best airline for their trips to the most varied destinations in Europe.”
Ryanair has announced a new route between Faro and Rome, starting in April and operating twice a week.
“With the fast approach of Easter,” said Elena Cabrera, country manager for Portugal and Spain, “we provide another option and more value to our customers with the addition of this new route to Rome for the summer of 2023.”
British and other European tourists staying in southern Portugal will also be able to enjoy a summer stopover in Bilbao on their return home. Vueling is planning to launch direct flights to the home of the famous Guggenheim museum, starting on 2 July and operating twice a week on a 180-seat Airbus A320-200.
Meanwhile, Jet2 is also boosting its summer services around Europe, including additional Thursday services from Manchester to Faro from 11 May, “in response to a strong customer demand as more passengers seek out an early getaway”.
“Just weeks after being recognised as a Which? Recommended Provider,” said Jet2.com and Jet2holiday CEO Steve Heapy, “we are delighted to be announcing even more award-winning flights and holidays for customers and independent travel agents to choose from.”
