Eurowings has enhanced its mobility assistance for passengers by making a specially developed on-board wheelchair available as standard on all flights.
According to the airline – which operates flights between Faro Airport and several cities in Germany – passengers with reduced mobility can request the wheelchair directly from the flight attendants. It is no longer necessary to register for assistance in advance with customer services.
In addition to wheelchairs, Eurowings offers various other free services to passengers with disabilities. These include assistance with boarding and disembarking, on the apron and the aircraft stairs, or escorting passengers into their aircraft seat. The transport of wheelchairs and assistance dogs is also free of charge.
The airline asks passengers to advise of their assistance needs up to 48 hours ahead of departure. “With last-minute notifications, we can no longer guarantee smooth assistance.”

“Yes to Europe”
Meanwhile, Eurowings is taking part in a campaign to “strengthen democracy” ahead of European elections from 6 to 9 June. Also involving the other three airlines in the Lufthansa Group – Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines and Lufthansa – the campaign is highlighted by specially created “Yes to Europe” designs on their aircraft.
According to a news release by Eurowings and Lufthansa, the aim of the campaign is to “take a stand and strengthen democracy” with a “message at an altitude of over 10 kilometers spread across the entire continent”.
A total of four Airbus A320 “will serve as ambassadors of the European idea shortly before the European elections. The eye-catching message can be read on the fuselage and is framed by the European star wreath.”
Lufthansa and Eurowings sent aircraft with special foil into the European skies earlier this month, and next week one aircraft each from Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines will take off. Then, on 13 May, all four Lufthansa Group aircraft are scheduled to meet at Brussels Airport. Lufthansa previously branded an aircraft with a commitment to Europe before the 2019 European elections.
