The Al Sud restaurant at Palmares Ocean Living & Golf in Odiáxere (Lagos) has retained its Michelin star for a fourth consecutive year.
In addition to the restaurant, the Algarve resort comprises three nine-hole linked golf courses and a boutique hotel. Situated within the clubhouse, Al Sud received its first star in 2021, just six months after opening. It was designed by Pritzker Architecture Prize-winning RCR Arquitectes and offers diners views over the Bay of Lagos and the Alvor Estuary.
Chef Louis Anjos is renowned for blending contemporary fine dining with a creative and personal touch. He pops out of his kitchen to greet guests in person, and he and his team source ingredients from the Algarve region and coastline to create an array of dishes that includes a taster menu of seafood bought daily from the Sagres auction.
Representatives from Palmares and Al Sud attended the Michelin Guide Portugal 2024 gala in February – an event that was held in the Algarve for the first time.
“We are so pleased to have retained our Michelin star status here at Al Sud for the third year running,” said Anjos. “This accolade is a reward for the entire team, who work tirelessly to ensure every visitor enjoys an unforgettable experience when they step foot in the restaurant. It fills me with great pride that we continue to do just that while using the best ingredients the region has to offer.”
In addition to savouring gourmet cuisine, visitors to Palmares can stay at the five-star, 20-room, boutique Palmares Beach House Hotel and play golf on the resort’s three nine-hole loops: Alvor, Lagos and Praia. Extending down to the oceanfront and integrated into the natural amphitheatre of the Bay of Lagos, the holes were redesigned by Robert Trent Jones Jr in 2011. Green fees at Palmares are available from €62.
