By Car
The fastest route by car is via the A22 motorway, and this takes approximately 53 minutes. The distance is 64.6 kilometres and toll fees are incurred.
An alternative route with no toll fees is via the A22 and N124, which takes approximately one hour 11 minutes, and is a distance of 78.2 kilometres.

By Shuttle

Airport transfers can be booked from Faro Airport to numerous destinations throughout the Algarve, including Carvoeiro.
This is probably the cheapest and most direct option for larger groups and is a door-to-door service.
By Bus
Travelling from Faro to Carvoeiro, you will need to take the bus to Lagoa (estimated cost €5.50 from Faro bus station). Then change buses to travel on to Carvoeiro (estimated cost €2.25).
You can purchase tickets at the train station, from ticket machines or online.

By Train
There is no direct train from Faro to Carvoeiro. First take the train to Portimão from Faro (estimated cost €6.10) and a bus to Carvoeiro (estimated cost €3.25).
Trains from Faro to Portimao (the station is called Lagoa and is in the middle of nowhere) run at highly irregular intervals.
Train times are listed below but best to check the CP PT website for updated fares (these are meant as a guide only) and any travel alerts here.
The fares are about the same as for the bus. Carvoeiro is 10 kilometres from Portimao.
The last train from Faro leaves at 8.50 pm, and there is a huge gap in the early afternoon of over three hours with no trains at all.

By Taxi
This is probably the most expensive option but is a door-to-door service like that offered by the transfer companies.
Faro to Carvoeiro costs around €65; nearer to €80 on evenings, weekends and holidays.
The taxi rank is right outside the arrivals terminal so you will not have to lug around your baggage.
