The fastest route by car is via the A22 motorway and it takes approximately 55 minutes. The distance is 55 kilometres via and toll fees incurred.
An alternative route with no toll fees is via the A22 and N124, which takes approximately one hour 14 minutes, and is a distance of 85.1 kilometres.

By Shuttle

Airport transfers can be booked from Faro Airport to numerous destinations throughout the Algarve, including Portimão.
This is probably the cheapest and most direct option for larger groups and is a door-to-door service.
By Bus
Travelling from Faro to Portimão by bus, you will need to get the bus from Faro (estimated cost €5.50).
You can purchase tickets at the train station, ticket machines or online.

By Train
Trains from Faro to Portimão (the station is called Lagoa and is in the middle of nowhere) run at highly irregular intervals.
The last train from Faro leaves at 8.38 pm, and there is a huge gap in the early afternoon of over three hours with no trains at all.

By Taxi
This is probably the most expensive option but is a door-to-door service like that offered by the transfer companies.
Faro to Portimão costs around €75, nearer to €110 on evenings, weekends and holidays.
The taxi rank is right outside the arrivals terminal so you will not have to lug around your baggage.
